Bio

Xu Tian is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Terry College of Business, University of Georgia. His research lies at the intersection of corporate finance, structural estimation, and macro-finance, with a focus on how financial, legal, and information frictions, as well as market power, shape firm behavior and aggregate economic outcomes. His work spans corporate investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, financial intermediation, innovation and growth, and the interaction between corporate finance, law, labor, and industrial organization. His research has been published in leading finance and economics journals, including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, and Management Science.

Tian earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester in 2017, an MA in Economics from Peking University, and a BA in Economics from Nanjing University. Before joining the University of Georgia in 2021, he was an Assistant Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Toronto.
